Thoughts on Holy Hell

Image
The Movie I watched for this project is Holy Hell (2014) dir. Will Allen. This documentary explains Allens time in a spiritual group called Buddahfest. While I was watching this film I found a few things that I would say disturbed me. One in particular was when they were doing the transfer of energy from the master. The scene of the girl getting this performed and her  seeming in pain and afterwards falling to the ground is so strange to me. There a point where David Christopher is explaining his experience with this and he says he begins to convulse. It confuses me how one man could have so much power over somebody.  Another thing that disturbed me was when Michele had to leave in fear of his group being called a cult and he took only a few people with him. It was very weird to see the the video messages his other followers sent to him. You can see in their face how brainwashed they were and how much they really did believe this man was sent from God himself. It really...

Day trip to South Haven

Image
Last weekend My family and I went on a day trip to South Haven, Michigan. This is a cute little small town that is located right on Lake Michigan. Its like that stereotypical beach town where you walk around and go to all the shops and they have a few very nice restaurants. I went during the summer and personally I like it better when its warmer just because you can actually go by the water, and When you walk past the marinas there are giant yachts that stop by. When we went the water was crazy. The picture I put is an actually a light house from South Haven. When we walked up to view the water the waves were splashing almost to the top part of the light house. I have never seen Lake Michigan so crazy.  I really enjoy going to these little beach towns. Lakes like this were always so interesting to me as a kid especially because my parents would never let me go because they were scared I was gonna drift away.  I think that is the main reason why I am so interested.

covid-19

As you and the whole world knows there is a pandemic happening right now. Covid-19 was a huge shock to the world when it first came around. It was a very scary time seeing all the cases and deaths it is causes. I remember in the beginning being way to scared to even leave my house because we really did not know what this virus was capable of. Almost two years later, and might I say two years is insane to think about. we really thought it was going to go away in just a month and now its almost two years and it honestly really Makes me sad.   I really wished we still took the virus as serious as we did when it first happened because it still is very serious. I feel like if we all actually stayed home for a month and wore our masks when we did go out, even if we are vaccinated, this whole pandemic would be over with in a month.  I know this topic is really controversial and might upset some people, but I mean no harm by it. I am just expressing what I think about this pandemic. I...

School

Image
Its been three weeks since school started and I have to say college really is nothing like how our old high school teachers used to say. I kinda of feel like that was their way into scaring you to get your act together and I have to say it did work. Definitely a different environment from high school and I really like the freedom you have. I feel like that makes you really wants to work harder because you are taking classes that you actually like and need for your major.  Finally getting to college is so exciting. I feel like this is just the beginning to your adult life. So much is going to happen before we graduate, good and bad, this is all going to shape us for our future and it just super exciting. By the end of it all we are going to be completely different people and although it is super scary to think about it is also very nice to think about.  I personally think the most difficult thing about college so far is keeping up with all the work and making sure you are doing...

Kentucky Lake

Image
Once a year we get my whole family and go on a trip to Kentucky to a small little cabin on the lake. We have been going every year for almost 6 years. This has been one of my favorite vacations ever since we have started going. It was just until our recent trip during the summer that I found out the in the interesting history about this gigantic lake. I know what you're probably thinking. Why is this lady talking about some random lake. Even though it sounds boring going here has been such an amazing experience for me. This lake is man made and was created around 1938 and was filling in 1944. This lake has a shoreline that is nearly 2300 miles long. Along the left side of the shoreline are HUGE houses that honestly really make me really jealous. It's a dream to have a house on a lake like this for me. Along the right side of the shoreline is filled is nature reserves. The land surrounding this lake is filled with so much life.  The thing I find the most interesting about this...
