Kentucky Lake

Once a year we get my whole family and go on a trip to Kentucky to a small little cabin on the lake. We have been going every year for almost 6 years. This has been one of my favorite vacations ever since we have started going. It was just until our recent trip during the summer that I found out the in the interesting history about this gigantic lake.

I know what you're probably thinking. Why is this lady talking about some random lake. Even though it sounds boring going here has been such an amazing experience for me. This lake is man made and was created around 1938 and was filling in 1944. This lake has a shoreline that is nearly 2300 miles long. Along the left side of the shoreline are HUGE houses that honestly really make me really jealous. It's a dream to have a house on a lake like this for me. Along the right side of the shoreline is filled is nature reserves. The land surrounding this lake is filled with so much life.

The thing I find the most interesting about this lake is how there are two graves that are submerged under the waters. During the winter months the lake is drained in certain parts and that is when the gravestones. The gravestone belongs to a man named John Y, Whaley who passed away June 10th 1907. This site is in the middle of the lake and when the lake is drained there is a walk way where you can walk right up to it. I find it very interesting. Although I haven't had the chance to see it in person yet I am planning to when I get the chance.
